Kayangan Lake, Twin Lagoon or Barracuda Lake: Which Coron Island Tour?
5 min read
Choose by the one place you would regret missing, or book one of the two routes that name all three. The Coron Ultimate Tour is the most reviewed tour in the current Coron selection, and its booking page lists Kayangan Lake, Twin Lagoon, Skeleton Wreck, Coral Garden, Quin Reef, CYC Beach and Barracuda Lake in a single day. If you would rather spend longer at fewer places, Tour A focuses on Kayangan Lake, while the Barracuda Lake and Twin Lagoon trip combines those two with Skeleton Wreck. The Philippine Department of Tourism lists both lakes, island hopping and Second World War wrecks among Coron’s defining experiences.
Four routes compared
| Tour | Duration | From | Rating | Main stops named |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Coron Ultimate Tour, seven stops | full day | €37.28 | 4.9 (1,518) | Kayangan Lake, Twin Lagoon, Skeleton Wreck, CYC Beach, Barracuda Lake and two reefs |
| Tour A: Kayangan Lake and Quin Reef | 8 hours | €23.02 | 4.5 (305) | Kayangan Lake, Sunset Beach, Las Islas de Coral |
| Barracuda Lake, Skeleton Wreck and Twin Lagoon | 8 hours | €32.75 | 4.4 (276) | Barracuda Lake, Twin Lagoon, Skeleton Wreck |
| Super Ultimate seven-stop tour | 6 to 8 hours | €39.47 | 4.8 (153) | Kayangan Lake, Twin Lagoon, Skeleton Wreck, CYC Beach, Barracuda Lake and two more stops |
All four include lunch according to their booking summaries. The Ultimate Tour picks guests up between 8 and 9 a.m. and drops them off around 5 to 5:30 p.m.; its itinerary allows about an hour at each stop. The Super Ultimate tour lists 6 to 8 hours; with pickup between 8:15 and 9 a.m., a return around 5 to 5:30 p.m. and about an hour per stop, it runs a very similar day and also includes Barracuda Lake. Do not read “seven stops” as seven long visits on either route.
One long day or a shorter list?
Book the Ultimate Tour when you have one boat day and want Kayangan Lake and Barracuda Lake both. Its 1,518 reviews are by far the largest review base among Coron’s boat tours here. The trade-off is a full day of stepping on and off the boat, and you share it with a group.
Choose Tour A when Kayangan Lake is non-negotiable and you prefer a reef and beach to a wreck at a slower pace. Choose the Barracuda route if you want the lake, Twin Lagoon and Skeleton Wreck without the Kayangan climb. The Super Ultimate route covers a near-identical seven-stop day in a shared group of 12 to 20 people, with a high rating but far fewer reviews than the Ultimate Tour. Conditions and the day’s stop order can change on the water, so treat the named route as the promise to check on the booking page, not a minute-by-minute timetable.
What is and is not included
The Ultimate Tour’s booking page includes hotel pickup and drop-off within Coron Town Proper (barangays 1 to 6) and entrance fees, permits and local taxes, but not the environmental fee. On the Ultimate Tour, snorkel masks, fins and kayaks cost extra. Tour A includes permits and entrance fees, a picnic lunch and transfers between Coron Town Proper hotels and the wharf, but not the environmental fee; mask, snorkel, fins and kayaks are for rent. The Barracuda route includes hotel pickup, lunch, life jackets and snorkel gear. The Super Ultimate tour includes hotel pickup, a buffet lunch, life vests, entrance fees and permits. For these two, ask on the booking page whether the environmental fee is charged separately.
Recommendation
For most first-time visitors with one boat day, book the Coron Ultimate Tour for €37.28: it names all three places in the title of this article and has the deepest review base. Pick the Barracuda Lake, Skeleton Wreck and Twin Lagoon trip for €32.75 or Tour A when you would rather see fewer places at a slower pace.
